This is some more general info about our Puerto Vallarta condo at La Jolla de Mismaloya Condo Resort ( for condo pictures see www.pv-mexico.com/the_condo.html ) and the local area:

Overview:  Our Mismaloya condo is located only about 15 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta's Old Town with stunning views of the ocean, mountains and the nearby islands of Los Arcos. Our remodeled kitchen features all the usual appliances, dishes, cookware and marble countertops and breakfast bar.  Cheerfully decorated with stunning views and large balcony overlooking the ocean. One bedroom and 2 full bathrooms. Our beach was the site of the movie 'Night of the Iguana' which featured Richard Burton and Ava Gardner making Puerto Vallarta famous. Nearby is the new Puerto Vallarta zoo and Chico's Paradise. You can swim in the river where the movie 'Predator' was filmed. Our gated resort offers onsite laundry, exercise room, tennis, and fine dining in a restaurant by the pool. Loads of activities including the nearby Botanical Gardens, and the remote oceanfront village of Yelapa, occasional hideaway of some Hollywood stars, where you can walk to the waterfall after reaching Yelapaā€™s beautiful beach by water taxi.

Condo Amenities:  The condo resort has all the normal amenities including wireless broadband internet access throughout the complex, an olympic size pool, tennis court, health spa, and our own restaurant. The condo kitchen has all normal appliances, microwave, dishes, cookware, silverware, blender, coffee maker etc.  The unit also has color television, air conditioning, extra inflatable beds (2) in addition to the masterbed and pull out sofa.  Roll away beds are also available by calling the front desk. The condo can easily sleep 4-6. There are 2 full baths and fresh towels and linens whenever the maid cleans the condo.  The maid will clean everything, including doing dishes, basically every other day or every third day.  You need to schedule the maid service at the front desk when you check in.  The balcony of our condo overlooks the bay and ocean and has great sunset views.  You can literally throw wadded up bread to the angel fish from the one corner of our balcony.  We are on on the 2nd level up from the pool, but in the most seaward of the 3 condo buildings (i.e., the #7 building) and accordingly we get no pool noise.

Money exchange.  This can be done all over town with some of the best rates at the condos.  The front desk at the condos exchanges money.  The current rate is very favorable at about 13 pesos to the dollar.

Transportation.  Coming from the airport to the condos is done by cab, of which there are many outside the airport terminal.  They are special airport cabs and they are spendy costing about $25 for a ride to the condos.  When leaving from the condos and going to the airport you can take a regular cab and the cost is about half of that amount.  The downtown Puerto Vallarta beaches are very crowded but the main promenade (the Malacon)along the waterfront is fun to walk.  Buses stop every 10 minutes in front of the condos and the ride costs about 50 cents.  Cabs are also everywhere around town and some are stationed in front of the condos.  The doorman will get you one if you like.  A taxicab to the business district is about 125 pesos.  We don't recommend renting a car for getting around PV as the parking is too difficult.

Maria Bonita Restaurant.  Our condo restaurant (The Maria Bonita) is located outdoors next to the swimming pool.  It's open every day except Sunday and has one of the best margueritas in Mexico.

Other Restaurants.  There are many many excellant restaurants to chose from.  Our favorites include: Serrano's in Mismaloya village, Le Cliff, which is located just down the coast about 15 minutes.  Downtown, our favorites are the River Cafe, Dacqueri Dicks, Le Bistro,  Pipi's, Las Palomas, Maximillians,  and many more.  For nightclubs we suggest just walking the Malacon strip and picking one.  Senor Frogs can be fun if you're in the right mood.

Is Puerto Vallarta Safe?  In our opinion it is safer than many cities in the U.S.  But in case you are concerned, we recommend taking a look at http://www.puertovallartatours.net/puerto-vallarta-safety.htm for an interesting article and also Googling the question as well as checking U.S. State Department advisories.

Things to do:  Perfecting your tan on the beach or at the pool. Margueritas at one of the palapa restaurants on the beach. Snorkeling in front of the condos. Tennis, health club stuff.  Take a walk up through the little Mexican village of Mismaloya which is located in the valley behind the beach.  Only about a 5 minute walk from the condos.  There is a very nice small grocery store in a small hotel at the entrance to the village.  Take one of the beachfront water taxis (ask for Chatta and tell him we sent you) to one of the little oceanfront villages such as Yelapa (accessible only by water).  Great Beaches and snorkeling along the way.  Fishing too if you like. Another fun day trip is to Chico's Paradise (by taxi, it's a short drive).  Good shopping there and excellant lunches with a spectacular setting.  Other possibilities of which there are many:  horseback ride up behind the beach to the set of Swartzenegger's Predator movie; golf; jet skiing and banana boat rides off the beach; boat ride on an old Spanish Galleon to some of the off shore islands; eco-trips from downtown, visit Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's villa on the hillside.  It's open to tours daily.   It is important to know that there are 2 different main tourist areas of downtown.  First there is the Malecon and Flea Market Area, which has many shops and restaurants, and which you see when you come to the condos from the airport.  The other area which some people miss totally is the Romantique Zone or also called the Old Town section.  This is actually my favorite area of town and it is where the restaurant Daqueri Dick's is located.  Make sure you visit this part of Puerto Vallarta.

The telephone number at the front desk for friends who may wish to contact you, or if you wish to confirm that we really do own a condo there, is: 011 52 322 22 80838. ( Have your friends ask for Condo # 7103).

Rates and Rental procedure:  We have recently had a rate reduction due to the state of the economy.  Our reduced High Season (November 1-April 30) rate is now only $825 per week or $118/night.  Our Low Season (May 1-October 31) rate is now $600 per week. These rates include all taxes and management fees (maid service, etc.).  If you have any questions or you wish to make a reservation, please call us at (907) 248-5662.  We do accept Visa or Master card for your convenience.

  2. Low season (May 1-October 31) rate - $600 per week or $86/night.

For checking in at the front desk of the condos, you need to take with you a copy of our email which we will send to you upon receipt of payment as a letter of introduction¯ to the Managing Director of our Condo Association or use the confirmation number we will send you.   Management will be expecting your arrival.  If you have any problems with the condo or if you have any questions about local restaurants, transportation or activities, just ask the folks at the front desk as they are very helpful and speak English quite well. When checking out at the front desk upon leaving, they will charge you $18 per day (which is subtracted from our weekly rate= you pay us $100 per night for high season) for maid service, linens, beach towels, etc., plus any charges you may have for long distance telephone calls from the condo.

Hopefully this info will help you enjoy Puerto Vallarta and our condo as much as we do.   Any questions, drop us an email or give us a call.
